This week we used LiDAR data to map tree density and canopy height. The data comes from the Big Meadows area of Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. This area has roads, a parking lot, a stream, and a hillside. The lighter portions of the maps represent areas where canopy density and tree height are less. This data would be useful to see the effects of human and environmental changes.
