Module3

This week we explored LiDAR visibility through the ArcGIS Online courses 3D visualization, line of sight analysis, viewshed analysis, and sharing 3D content using scene layer packages. The 3D visualization module provided information on creating 3D objects like buildings, trees and people through data manipulation and package upload. This would be helpful for creating visual scenes and textures. The vertical exaggeration portion would be useful for displaying mountain ranges. The extrusion of 2D data for better data visualization was also interesting. I have seen things like climate data presented this way but never put thought into how to create it. The line of sight and viewshed analysis modules were very informative about the different aspects of visibility analysis and the limitations. Sharing 3D content using scene layer packages through ArcGIS provided a lot of information about the publisher and organization requirements, and what can be included in a package for publishing. I think the most interesting part of this module was the 3D visualization. 3D models are common but before this it was not something that I had thought more about the creation of. The textures and package options were fun to explore.
